Scripps Foundation for Medicine and Science (aka The Scripps Philanthropic Board) promotes the philanthropic support of The Scripps Research Institute and Scripps Health.

Since 1992, Lee served as a Trustee of the Foundation, and has been recognized times for services that have taken him far and beyond the call of duty. In that, he follows the lead and impact of the Foundation's creator, Ellen Browing Scripps. More than 75 years ago, Mrs. Scripps made a charitable gift to create Scripps Memorial Hospital and Scripps Metabolic Clinic, the earliest ancestors of Scripps Health and The Scripps Research Institute. In February 1926, she became the first woman to be featured on the cover of Time magazine. Click on the cover to read what Time magazine had to say, seventy-five years ago.
